Robot is a forthcoming science-fiction film being directed by S. Shankar, who with Robot, directs his tenth feature film. Despite several rumours regarding the lead actors, Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai have been formally announced to portray the title role. The film costing 120 crores is set to contest with Kamal Haasan's film, Dasavatharam, in a race to be India's most expensive film to date.

After completing Nayak: The Real Hero in 2001, Shankar announced a project with Kamal Haasan and Preity Zinta titled Robo, to be produced by the now-defunct production company Media Dreams. Despite, announcing the project, due to a lack of backing the project was cancelled and Shankar began work on Boys. In 2005, Shankar made another project, Anniyan, this was mistaken to be the renamed title for Robot.

On July 27th 2007, Shahrukh Khan was signed on to be the male lead of Robot and also the producer of the film. However, in October 2007, Shah Rukh Khan and Shankar officially called off the project. Khan commented that the script was "half-baked" and "dull" in comparison to his other films at the time. Shankar commented that Rajnikanth had commented on Shankar being a "trusted" and "excellent" script writer. Thus the two weren't able to compromise on one another opinions.

First it was rahman’s son Ameen and the film was Couples Retreat and now its Music Maestro’s daughter Khatija and the film is the most awaited film of the year ‘Robot/Endhiran.’ Yes, rahman has reportedly managed to get his daughter Khatija to croon a few lines for a number in his ‘Robot,’ the audio of which releases in Malaysia today.

Apart from the original decided casting of Rajnikanth in the lead role, Shankar as director and A. R. Rahman as the music composer, the rest of the cast is expected to be named within the next six months. Several heroines were approached to essay the lead female role with Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Asin Thottumkal, Trisha Krishnan, Shriya Saran, Priyamani and Nayanthara being linked with the role and furthermore, Amitabh Bachchan, Narain and Arjun are being considered for further lead roles. In late January 2008, Aishwarya Rai was announced as the heroine of the project, and she later confirmed her appearance in the film to the news channel, Aaj Tak for a fee of 6 crores, becoming the highest paid actress in India with her salary for Robot.

The actor is now part of the jury which will judge a global film competition held by blair's foundation

Bollywood superstar Anil Kapoor will share the stage in london with the former British prime minister Tony Blair.

 Anil, star of Slumdog Millionaire and TV series 24, will be on the jury for the Faith Shorts - a global film competition  held by the Tony Blair  Faith Foundation providing young people with an opportunity to express their faith through films. The competition will culminate on July 22 at a star-studded award ceremony at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) hosted by Adrian Chiles.

The films deal with issues such as family, loss, overcoming adversity, personal devotion and hope. The films range from an Indian pupil presenting a challlenge to the viewer on child poverty in the slums of Delhi, to young Bosnisns of different faiths, offering a vision peace and tolerance set against the divisions that their community experienced.

Entries have been shortlisted from around the world including India, Egypt, Argentina, Pakistan, UK, New Zealand, Singapore of every background with no access to written pitches. And the Tony Blair Foundation sent flip cameras to the best 50 entries in these countries to ensure that every youngster could bring his/her idea to life.

These stories have impressed the global judging panel, which includes Tony Blair, Jonathan Caplan QC, Hugh Jackman, Anil Kapoor, Amr Khaled, Jet Li, Kishore Lulla, Wendi Murdoch, Natalie Portman, Nik Powell, Queen Rania of Jordan, Rabbi David Rosen, June Sarpong, Deepak Verma and the Tony Blair Faith Foundation Fellows.

Salman refuses to change the release date of his film for Anil's sake

Tales of brother hood fly out of the window when it comes to business. Salman Khan has very good relations with the Kapoor brothera Boney and Anil. He was part of Boney's production, No Entry and Wanted, and is supposedly part of No Entry @, whenever it happens. But it isn't as if Salman is constantly in the mood to oblige the Kapoors.

Trade sources say that Anil Kapoor's riproaring comedy No Problem is ready  for release and Anil wanted it to hit screens on September 10, as the date coincides with Eid. This date has always proved to be lucky at the box office.

However, Salman's Dabangg is releasing on that date, too. In fact, Dabangg was always meant to be an Eid release as the trade believes in the  super-combo of Salman and Last year. Boney release wanted on Eid and the film was hugely successful, especially in sigle screens. This year; Sohail Khan, part producer of Dabangg, also wants to cash in on this date. So, when Anil approached him and asked him to shift his release  date by a week so that he could bring his Anees Bazmee film out on that date, Sohail resused point blank. 

Now, Anil will release No Problem on Dece,mber 3. Anil however, maintains, "Salman is like a younger brother . It is true that we were earlier toying with the ideal of a September 10 release. But it doesn't make sense for  two big films to clash on the same date. I'am super confident about No Problem because it is an Anees Bazmee film. Everyone connected to the trade thinks it is a perfect December movie.

Sanjay Dutt has forged a strong bond with Kashmir. Hehad shot his first film Rocky there and now, after three decades, PVR Pictures and GS Entertainment's Lamhaa took him back to the valley. The actor says his Kashmiri wife Maanyata has strengthened his bond with the place even more. "Everything about Kashmir has fascinated me right from my childhood, and now being married to a Kashmiri draes me closer to the vally," said the actor, who plays the main protagonist of the film, which tells the story of real people living in a war-ridden state, but who spread the message of peace and harmony. 

If Sanjay could identify with the place, Bipasha Basu could relate to her character - a strong-willed, fiery woman named Aziza, who's a revolutionary. But Bips had a hurdle to overcome. "Intitially, I was not sure whether I could fit the role of a Kashmiri girl because I have a Bengali face. But after director Rahul Dholakia showed me pictures of presented-day Kashmiri whomen - the way they cover their heads, the attire they wear- I was certain that I could play the role. I am an actress, my job is to get into the skin of the character," said Bips, who had many sessions with designer Rocky S to get the perfect look for the film.

And as much as Darshan has tried to avoid  controversy, there is the delay of Boss to contend with. The actor even postponed the releases of his other films so that they wouldn't clash with Boss. ''It's a waste of time talking about Boss and Ramesh Yadav (the producer). I've decided not to burden my other producers now. Shaurya will see a July release, and will be followed by Sarathi,'' he says. What does Darshan have to say to the reports of Ramesh accusing him of  withholding the negatives of Boss? ''the unit members have kept the negatives as they haven't received their payments, but it's more newsworthy to say that Idid it. I let that go, hoping they'd at least get paid,'' he says. Darshan is now looking forward to starting work on Prince, and will join the film's unit today. The Challenging star is teaming up again with Om prakash for this film, after the duo delivered hits like Mandya and Yodha. ''We share a good rapport. He's the best  when it comes to action films. He acknowledges you do a good job, which is what I need from a director,''he he explains.

That's the case with Dwarkish's first film in  six years. Which he plans to title Vishnuvardhana as a tribute to the late actor.

Reports say that the film will reveal details about the Sahasa Simha's personal life, something that Vishnuvardhan's family has objected to. However, Dwarkish - who was a good frind of Vishnuvardhan and whose last film, Apthamithra starred the actor - vehemently denies these reports. The film's "There's a  misconception's personal life. But that's not the case. Uncle (Vishnuvardhan) was a big hero and we thought the title would be a fitting tribute to the person we all love."

The film, says Yogish, will be a commercial one and will star Sudeep. "The her's father is big fan of Vishnuvardhan and he names his son (Sudeep) Vishnuvardhana," reveals Yogish, who says that he and his father have already met Vishnuvardhan's daughter, Keerthi, and spoke to her about the title. "She was convinced. Sudeep, myself and my father will meet aunty (Bharathi Vishnuvardhan)  very soon and talk to her in detaile before we register the title,"says Yogish.

The dwarjish family, however, is upset about the whole incident. "We've been part of the industry for 20 years and we are not here to create controversies. The public would love to watch the film when they see that it's been titled after their favourite hero.

Actress Trisha is all set to reprise her role in VTV in Hindi

The latest news doing the rounds is that Trisha hassigned her second film in Bollywood. She'll be playing Jemake of her superhit Gautham Vasudev Menon flick Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (VTV)
Sources confirmed that Trisha has signed for the film and that shooting will start in Auhust. Prateik Babbar. who made his debut as the second hero in Jaane Tu.. Ya Jaane Na, will start in August. Prateik Babbar, who made his debut as the second hero in Jaane Tu....Ya Jaane Na, will br playing the hero, a role made memorable by Simbu in Tamil.

When contacted, Trisha refused to comment and said that it was too early to talk about it. Gautham, who will be directing the Hindi version too, is tight-lipped about the casting of the film's feamale lead actor. But our sources have confirmed that the film, produced by Ambika Hinduja, will go on the floors in mid-August in Malta, where parts of the original were shot.

Meanwhile, Trisha is currently on a Mediterranean cruise-in a Titanic-like ship with three decks - shooting with Kamal Haasan for Manmadhan Ambu.

Last week, the actress was in Paris shooting for the same film, and then the unit went to Monte Carlo to join the cruise. on the Kamal-starrer, Trisha told Bt, "I'm enjoying every moment of it, and it is great fun and educative working with Kamal sir, I admire his intelligence and knoweldge on every subject under the sun."

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarsan have requested her to come to Mumbai for the promotions of Khatta Meetha. Says her publicist, "Trisha will be going to Mumbai  five days defore the release of  Khatta Meetha. She has already requested director KS Ravikumar to give her break from the Europan schedule of Manmadhan Ambu."

The Kannada Films Industry is Playing A T20 Match TO Raise Funds For THe Dancers' Association Next Mont

Recently, Tollywood had a fileld day when all its stars came together for a cricket tourney. Now, it's Sandalwood's turn. A T20 match, which will see some of the bestknown faces of the industry lead various teams, will be held at the Kanteerava stadium on July 25. The match is to raise funds for the dancers' association, which needs to buy sites for its members.
Eight teams comprising various association, including those of directors, producers, artistes fighters, cinematographers, music directors, dancers and MLAs, will be part of the event. While Shivrajkumar will lead the producers' association squad, Ravichandran will captain the directors' association, Sudeep the dancers' association, Ambarish the artistes' association and Vijay the fighters' association. The skippers for the music directors association and cinematographers' association aren't named yet. " We have made it mandatory for each team to have at least five artistes. Each  team will also have a  female brand ambassador," says Rajesh Brahmavar, prisident of the dancers' association.

Rajesh adds, "we' re also finalising designs for the team jerseys. The hit songs of the captains will be played as team anthem of Shivanna's squad is Hodi Maga from veera Madakari. While the tunes will remain, the lyrics will be changed." The lanvh events of the teams will be held on July 11 amidst much fanfare. "Besides industry folk and their families, the match will be open to public viewing, too. But we're still contemplating on whether to make it a free or a ticketed event. We don't mind offering free entry; we're just worried that if we do so, it migh turn into another Amrutha Mahotsava marked by chaos and confusion,"Says Rajesh.
